A HSA is a tax-advantaged medical savings account for those with a high-deductible health plan (HDHP) to pay for out-of-pocket eligible medical expenses, as well as deductibles, co-insurance, prescriptions, vision expenses and dental care. This plan is highly beneficial to those who do not receive employer-sponsored health insurance.
After age 65, funds can be withdrawn for any purpose without penalty, but may be subject to income tax if not used for IRS-qualified medical expenses.
