John C. Eyster, Jr.
Founding Director
John Eyster, Jr. is a 1987 graduate of The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee with a B.S. in Physics. He also earned an M.B.A. in 1989 from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.
John was employed by AmSouth Bank in Birmingham in its Management Associate Program. He then became a stockbroker and Vice President at Morgan Keegan & Co., working eight years in Decatur and one in Nashville. Since then, he has been employed by John Eyster, developing and managing property in a family business for the past ten years. He is also President of Durango Partners, Inc., another real estate company.
He is a member and former Chairman of the board of deacons at Decatur Presbyterian Church. He is also on the Board of International Cooperating Ministries (ICM) located in Hampton, Virginia. ICM has built over 3,500 churches in 39 countries in the last 20 years. It also broadcasts a survey of the Bible called the Mini Bible College in over 20 languages to a potential audience of over three billion people.
John is a former board chairman of Young Business Leaders of Decatur, he is a third generation member of the Decatur Kiwanis Club and a Decatur native. John is actively involved with the Decatur Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, presently serving on its Transportation Committee; He has also graduated from its Leadership Decatur program. While in Nashville, he participated in the Young Leaders program, which trains community members to serve on non-profit boards.
John and his wife, the former Lisa Myers, are currently involved in the effort to establish a YMCA in Decatur, and are members of the YMCA Steering Committee. They have two young daughters, ages seven and five. John enjoys spending time with friends and family, golf, hunting and traveling.
