Eric W. Janssen, MD

Dr. Eric Janssen is a specialist in sports medicine with SportsMed Orthopaedic Surgery & Spine Center. His interest in the specialty came from his own experience as a high school and college athlete.
As a graduate of Marshall University School of Medicine, Eric completed his residency at Mount Carmel Medical Center in Columbus, OH, and completed a fellowship at Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic in Columbus, GA.
Currently, Dr. Janssen serves as President of SportsMed Orthopaedic Surgery & Spine Center and is a Clinical Instructor at UAB. He has maintained a seat on the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for the past six years and is proud to serve on the board of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He has also served on the Medical Panel for USA Gymnastics.
Since 1992, he and his wife, Vicki, have called the city of Huntsville home. Eric is a licensed pilot and enjoys flying in his spare time. Vicki is owner of the Topiary Tree, a small business located in Huntsville. All of the Janssens’ children, ranging in age from 6 to 26 years old, are active in various school and athletic activities. When not coaching or attending children’s events, the Janssens enjoy spending family time on the water.
