Charlie Vaughn
Founding Director
Charlie retired after 45 years working in the Defense Industry, and serving his country on active duty in the U.S. Army. His last assignment in the industry was as Senior Vice President for the Professional Engineering and Services Group of the ITT Corporation. Charlie's group was headquartered in Huntsville and it provided technical assistance support for all services of the Department of Defense. In this capacity, he had profit and loss responsibility in managing a 300 million dollar operation with over 1,800 employees in dozens of locations across the United States.
Charlie retired from the U.S. Army in 1986 with twenty-one years experience as an officer. His tours of duty included The Pentagon, two tours in Vietnam and he retired from an assignment as a Program Manager for a classified program at Redstone Arsenal.
Charlie currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Huntsville Hospital Foundation, the Board of Visitors for the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration at the University of Alabama, the Board of Advisors for Quantitech Corporation, and the Board for N-Logic Corporation. Charlie was a member of the Greater Huntsville Rotary Club and serves on the Tennessee Valley BRAC Committee. Previously, he was on the Board of Directors for CAS, Inc., MEADS, LLC, The Land Trust of North Alabama, Junior Achievement, the National Defense Industrial Association, and the Association of the United States Army.
Charlie has a B.S. degree from the University of Alabama and an MBA from Tulane University. He and his wife Jane chose to make Huntsville their home and have lived here since 1983. They have 4 children, Keith, Melanie, Alicia and Adam, along with one grandson, Tanner. Jane owns the Purple Peanut children’s clothing boutique and is active with her children. In his spare time, Charlie enjoys golf and reading.
Charlie serves on the Progress Bank Investments—Asset/Liability Management Committee.
