Bruce Pylant began his banking career in Huntsville more than thirty-five years ago and has worked in banking management throughout North Alabama, including Huntsville, Guntersville and Decatur. His responsibilities have included consumer banking, business and commercial banking, regional management, and, most recently, Decatur City President.
Bruce received his B.S. in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama and holds certificates from the LSU Graduate School of Banking of the South and Georgia State University Leadership Institute. Bruce was a long time instructor in the Huntsville Chapter of the American Institute of Banking and received Basic, Standard and Graduate Certificates of Achievement.
Bruce and his wife Vivian have two sons and two grandchildren. Their oldest son Michael is an attorney, and their son John, an investment advisor, is married to Ginny and has two children, Mary Bibb and Virginia. Bruce and his family are members of First United Methodist Church where he has been involved as an Administrative Board Member and in youth leadership activities. Bruce is currently Chairman of the Decatur-Morgan County Industrial Development Board, Past Member of the Board of Decatur Country Club and Immediate Past Chairman of the Parkway Medical Center Hospital Board of Trustees. A member of the Rotary Club of Decatur, and Bruce is also active in the Reading Rotarian Program for Decatur City Schools.
Other groups Bruce has been actively involved with include United Way of Morgan County (Past Campaign Chairman and President of the Board), United Way of Madison County (Division Chair and Board Member), Family Services Center of Madison County (Past President), Mental Health Center of Morgan County, Limestone County Economic Development Association, America Red Cross “HEROs” Campaign, Alabama Young Bankers (Group 2 School Coordinator and Vice-Chair), Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Huntsville Class 2, Morgan County/Decatur Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Leadership Decatur and others.
Bruce's interests outside banking include cycling, fishing, golf, fly tying and entertaining his granddaughters!
Bruce serves on the Progress Bank Loan/Executive and Investments-Asset/Liability Management Committees.
