Roger Trent Pangle
Progress Bank honors Roger Trent Pangle, who served on the board of directors of the bank since its inception. On December 7, 2013, Roger passed away at the age of 64 of pancreatic cancer.
In 1976, Pangle began his career with Alabama Farmers Cooperative (AFC) as a district sales manager in Northeast Alabama and later was transferred to Decatur as manager of the seed department. He was promoted to director of seeds in the crops, farm and home department in 1978. Pangle was promoted to vice president of crops, farm and home department in 1993 and accepted the position of executive vice president and COO in June 1996. In 2012, Pangle was promoted to president and CEO.
Pangle was active in agriculture service organizations, serving as president of Alabama Seedsmen Association (1984-1985); president of the Southern Seedsmen Association (1991); president of the Southern Field Seed Council (1988); president of the Alabama Crop Improvement Association (1993-1995). He also served as president of Universal Seed and Supply, Inc.; board member and past chairman of Universal Cooperatives, Inc., in Minneapolis, Minnesota; chairman of the board for BioLogic, LLC; chairman on the Agri-AFC board; board member of Cooperative Financial Services, Inc.
He was also active in the Decatur Kiwanis, serving as its president in 1992-1993. Pangle was a past board member of the Alabama Agri-Business Association and State 4-H Foundation.
